OK so I got a TiVo the other day, and let me first say that so far it has been really awesome. For those of you who don't know what a TiVo is, it's basically a little box you plug in to your TV that lets you do a bunch of things including pausing live TV, automatically record shows, and make suggestions about things you'd like to watch.

It's this last feature that has been interesting, the "suggestions" feature. I have no idea how it works, but the idea is that it automatically records shows it thinks you'd like based on your viewing patterns. Well my TiVo must have some interesting conceptions about me. So far, this is what it has "suggested" I might like:

• Lizzy Maguire
• Some spanish soap opera
• The movie Catch-22
• A British Parliamentary Debate
• Lizzy Maguire again
• Corky Romano
• VH1's Awesomely Bad Hair

I'm sure there are some more weird ones I've forgotten, but that's it for now.
 

Tic-tic-tic.... do you hear it? It's getting closer... almost here... tomorrow is Finals Day. After that, I'll graduate on Friday and finally be DONE WITH MY UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE. Talk about joint emotions of relief, exhuberance and exhaustion. What's next, you might ask? Well since you asked...



I got offered and accepted to be a Web Developer for the Association of Former Student. Whoop! I'm pretty jazzed about it, and I start in 15 days! I will probably take a class in grad school on the side to just do some work on that degree. Anyway I DO have to take my final tomorrow, so back to studying!

Ooh yes. This is it... I have finally been accepted into the elite circle of technology. I have obtained the Nerd Holy Grail. That's right, I got an invitation to join G-mail. For the uninitiated, G-mail is Google's free, 1GB (1,000 Mb!) email service. As of right now it is not open to the public, so the only way to get an address is either receive an invitation from Google or Blogger, or to buy one off eBay. I got my invitation through Blogger.

There are a million websites out there reviewing the Gmail service, so I won't to into the details, but suffice it to say I really like it. The only problem is that I am now regretting my choice of name. I really wanted bret@gmail.com but the names must be at least six characters in length and that's only four. So anyway I want to change my address but I need to think of a good 6+ character address. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Wow, I don't think I've ever had a nervous breakdown before, but last night I came pretty close. Just all the crap I have to finish up by the end of the summer. Oh man, just thinking about it is freaking me out again. I mean I was almost shaking... and it's great when you pull an all-nighter and barely get anything done.
